Frequently asked questions

Before you decide

Can foreigners see a doctor at a public hospital in China? Yes. Public hospitals in China treat foreign patients. You register with your passport and pay the same prices as local patients without insurance in regular outpatient care.

Why would I travel to China for medical care? Common reasons are shorter waiting times, access to large specialist hospitals, traditional Chinese medicine, and lower costs than private care in many countries. Whether it makes sense for you depends on your condition; we'll tell you honestly in the free consultation.

Which conditions can you help with? Most conditions treated by large general and specialist hospitals. Common requests include stroke rehabilitation, traditional Chinese medicine, health check-ups, orthopedics and joint replacement, dental care and serious illness. We do not arrange unapproved or experimental treatments.

Can you guarantee that a hospital will treat me? No. Whether a hospital accepts your case, and how you are treated, is decided by its doctors. For serious illness, we send your case to the department before you travel to ask whether they are likely to see you.

Language and escorts

Do I need to speak Chinese? No. Your escort stays with you at the hospital, understands what you need and helps you communicate smoothly with the doctors and staff.

I speak Russian or Spanish. Can you help? Yes. We can write to you in your language, but your escort at the hospital will speak English with you. Please tell us if you are not comfortable in English, so we can discuss options.

Is my escort a doctor? Our escorts are not your treating doctors: they do not diagnose or prescribe. Their job is to help you understand, ask the right questions and get things done.

Booking

Can I book with my passport? Yes. Hospitals in China book foreign patients by passport number. We book in your name using your passport.

How far ahead can you book? Most hospitals open bookings a few days to two weeks ahead. We plan your trip around the expected date and book as soon as slots open.

Can I choose my specialist? You can ask for one, and we try. We cannot guarantee a specific specialist, because appointments with senior doctors are limited.

What happens if I miss an appointment? If the hospital charged a registration fee, it is not refunded after the cancellation deadline (usually the day before). Hospitals may also block online booking for your passport after repeated missed appointments, usually three.

Costs and payment

How much does it cost? You pay us a service fee: free consultation, $180 for pre-trip coordination, escorts from $220, packages from $1,090. You pay the hospital directly for your care. See all prices

Do you take commissions from hospitals? No. Our recommendations are based on your medical needs alone.

Can you tell me what the hospital will charge? Each hospital sets its own prices; the total depends on your treatment. You pay the hospital directly, and your escort helps you understand each bill and pay it.

How do I pay the hospital? Usually with Alipay, WeChat Pay, TenPayGo, cash, or an international card where accepted. How to pay in China

Insurance

Can I use my health insurance? Hospitals usually cannot bill foreign insurers directly for regular outpatient care. You pay the hospital, and we make sure you have the invoices, itemized bills and records your insurer may ask for. Some international departments accept direct billing with certain insurers. Always check with your insurer before you travel.

Travel

Do I need a visa? It depends on your nationality and how long you need to stay. Check with the Chinese embassy or consulate in your country. Plan your trip

Will my phone and WhatsApp work in China? Some foreign apps don't work on Chinese networks, but we help you get set up so you can reach us and your family during your stay.

Is it safe to travel to China? Check your government's travel advice before you go. In the hospital, your escort is with you at every appointment.

Privacy

What happens to my medical records? You send them to us by email or WhatsApp after you decide to go ahead. We use them only to prepare and coordinate your care, share them only with the hospital you choose, and delete them within 90 days after your service ends. Privacy policy
