Health check-ups in China

Many of China's top hospitals run large health check-up centers. In one or two days you can have blood tests, imaging and specialist examinations in the same place, with a written report afterwards.

Who it may suit

  • People who want a thorough check-up and find it slow or expensive at home
  • Visitors already coming to China who want to add a check-up to their trip
  • People with a family history of a particular condition who want targeted tests

A check-up is for people without urgent symptoms. If something is worrying you now, tell us: you may need a specialist consultation instead.

What a check-up can include

Check-up centers offer packages, and you can add individual tests. Typical options include:

  • blood and urine tests (blood count, liver and kidney function, blood sugar, cholesterol, tumor markers)
  • heart tests (ECG, heart ultrasound)
  • ultrasound of the abdomen, thyroid and other organs
  • CT or MRI scans
  • gastroscopy and colonoscopy, often with sedation
  • eye, dental, gynecological or prostate examinations

More tests are not always better. Some scans involve radiation, and some tests produce unclear results that lead to further tests. We help you choose a package that fits your age, history and concerns, and the hospital's doctors confirm what is appropriate.

How it works

  1. Choose your package with our help, before you travel.
  2. Book. Check-up centers usually need booking in advance, especially for endoscopy and MRI.
  3. Prepare. Most check-ups need fasting from the night before; endoscopy needs extra preparation. We send you the instructions in English or French.
  4. Check-up day. Usually a morning, sometimes a full day or two, moving between test rooms. Your escort stays with you throughout.
  5. Results. Some results are ready the same day; the full written report usually takes 3 to 7 days, depending on the hospital. If anything needs attention, we help you book a specialist consultation before you leave, if time allows.

How long, and how much

  • Length: plan a few days in the city, including time for results.
  • Hospital costs: each hospital sets its own prices; the total depends on the tests you choose.
  • Our fees: a full-day escort for the check-up day, or a short-stay package if you want a specialist follow-up and help with results.

How we support you

  • We help you choose a package and book it.
  • Your escort guides you between test rooms, explains each test and handles payment.
  • We collect your report and give you a summary in English or French.
  • If a result needs follow-up, we help you see the right specialist, in China or with your doctor at home.

Your escort does not interpret results as a diagnosis. The hospital's doctors explain your results and what to do next.

Questions

Will I get the report in English? Reports are usually in Chinese. We give you a summary of the key results in English or French; it is not a certified translation.

Can I combine a check-up with sightseeing? Yes. Many people add a few days in the city. Sightseeing is arranged separately by a travel agency we work with.

Can my partner have a check-up at the same time? Yes. We book both and your escort accompanies you together.
